I was born and raised in small town Saskatchewan to 4th generation farmers. Most of my adult life was spent in Alberta working in various sectors; insurance, marketing & advertising, and the Oil & Gas service industry. Many years were spent in Calgary and then expanding our Oil & Gas service company required a move north. After a few years in the beautiful city of St. Albert, we eventually moved to Sturgeon County to raise our kids in a rural setting where we could live close to nature and instill values and life skills important to us. When our children were young I volunteered on local school councils from play school through to high school. I also volunteered in many ways through our local church until returning to the workforce full time, eventually teaching Yoga in the Edmonton area and working towards accreditation as a riding instructor. I believe the foundational elements of awareness, honesty and balance, are the cornerstones of a strong yoga practice and successful horsemanship. I continued to serve my community for several years with Rotary and was President of our local Rotary Club at the time of my election to Sturgeon County council in 2017.
